Popular author Nick Garrett returns to his hometown to beat writer's block and learns he might have a child with his ex-girlfriend Hannah.

Nick decides to stay in Knights Ridge and tries to persuade the local college's hard-nosed dean to give him a job. Meanwhile, the Commander investigates whether Sam is actually his grandson, and Eddie sees a chance to hurt Nick by seducing Nick's new friend Aubrey.

Nick tries to help Sam woo his crush by using the three-point plan described in his novel. Meanwhile, Eddie and Janet begin secretly dating, and Physical Phil works up the courage to "ask in" the pizza-delivery gal.

Nick and Ronnie suspect the Commander is dating; Physical Phil has dinner with the pizza-delivery gal; and Eddie finds out that Big Cat is looking to get revenge on their group of friends.

Nick and Hannah wait for Sam to come out of surgery; Physical Phil attempts to get even with two frat guys who accosted Pizza Girl. Meanwhile, Eddie and Ikey deal separately with their secret relationships.

The season wraps up with Aubrey asking Nick to choose between her and Hannah; Ray telling Owen about Ikey and Alison; and Physical Phil trying to get Pizza Girl back.

The second season opens with Nick and Eddie trying to track down Owen in New York City. Meanwhile, Hannah realizes her feelings for Nick.

Hannah reveals her feelings to Nick, but Nick is concerned that another professor may be interested in Aubrey. Meanwhile, Eddie is still reluctant to admit his relationship with Janet.

Owen wants Nick to report back to him with the details surrounding his wife's affair with Ikey. Meanwhile, Eddie is conflicted about whether he should reveal a secret that could end his business partnership with Nick, and Sam contests his mother's upcoming nuptials.

Owen and Alison decide how to split time with their kids during the holidays; Phil pretends he's an architect when his parents come to visit. Meanwhile, Janet scares Eddie with a heartfelt gift, and Nick discovers a secret about his deceased mother.

Hannah clashes with Ray's ex-wife over the care of her sons. Meanwhile, Nick sets Ronnie up with Aubrey's friend for a double date, and Pizza Girl pressures Phil to take his classic car out of the garage.

A comic book Nick wrote as a teen comes back to haunt him while he and Eddie are looking to land a new project. Meanwhile, Hannah and Janet try to arrange a double date with their boyfriends.

Nick is suspicious that Aubrey may be seeing someone; Ray wants to adopt Sam; and Janet wants to be more physical with Eddie. Meanwhile, the town is ramped up for the annual spelling bee.

Nick learns that Aubrey is in contact with her estranged father, and Ray pressures Hannah about adopting Sam. Meanwhile, Alison and Owen begin dating other people, and the Commander is diagnosed with a health problem.

Nick tries to convince Aubrey's father to tell Aubrey why he's on the run. Meanwhile, the gang heads out on a road trip to find the girl who saved Owen's life.

Nick learns that he's broke, and Hannah deals with her mother while preparing for her wedding. Meanwhile, Owen goes out with Jenny, the beer-delivery girl that saved his life.

The guys recall what their lives where like when they were 10 years old, after learning about the tragic death of their childhood crush, Angela Ferilli.

Eddie's ex-girlfriend returns to Knightsridge in an attempt to rekindle their relationship. Of course, Janet is none too happy when she discovers the intentions of Eddie's old flame.

Hannah is arrested for assaulting Ray's ex-wife, which could jeopardize her engagement to Ray; Nick is offered a great job, which would take him away from Knightsridge and his ailing father; and a previous action by a member of the gang leads to a violent confrontation.
