Ratings Roundup Week of October 28, 2018

No real surprises for CBS last week. MacGyver had a nice bump, up a couple of tenths from last week. Hawaii Five-0 and Bull were also up a tenth. Fans of God Friended Me should note where the show was last week without any help from an NFL game. The numbers are half a point lower without the assist; that could be bad news come the spring half of the season.Magnum PI and Murphy Brown were both steady last week, though fans of Murphy Brown might start to wonder what's going to happen with their show. There has been no indication of additional episodes ordered by the network, and, possibly more interesting, Murphy is the only CBS program that will air a new episode Thanksgiving night. Not good signs.

ABC had a workmanlike week last week. The Connors remained the highest rated show for the network, up a tenth from the week before. The Good Doctor slipped four tenths last week, but shouldn't be in any danger. The Rookie and A Million Little Things held steady. Numbers for both are okay, and each did receive news of a few additional episodes, but neither is at a full twenty-two for the season. America's Funniest Home Videos received renewal news last week and will stay on the air at least through the 2021 season. Fresh Off The Boat and Speechless returned with steady, but low numbers. The less said about The Alec Baldwin Show the better, especially since Mr Baldwin got himself arrested over the weekend.

NBC was also steady last week. This Is Us remained at the top of the scripted shows list with New Amsterdam a little under a point behind. The Dick Wolf Chicago trifecta were all steady last week. Putting the three shows on the same night seems to be a winner for the network. Fans of I Feel Bad, Blindspot, and Midnight, Texas should enjoy what is left of their programs. All three will probably be cancelled.

FOX mourned the LA Dodgers loss in the World Series last week as sports programming took the top four spots on the grid. 9-1-1 was the highest rated drama for the network, while Star took a painful hit, dropping three tenths from its last episode before the World Series. Lethal Weapon and The Gifted seem to be limping off into the sunset. Neither has done well so far this season and both will likely be cancelled.

No real surprises for The CW last week, either. Supernatural moved back into the second place spot behind The Flash. All of the other superheroes were on par with last week. The network better have a sweet deal with someone for Dynasty as the show continues to wallow at the bottom of the grid, not even able to beat reruns of other shows.

Final Season

November Sweeps are upon us. This could be make or break time for shows below their network average at the moment. Will your favorites live on to see the Spring schedule?

All American and Legacies each get a back order of just 3 more episodes bringing their totals to 16 each while Charmed gets the full season treatment with a further 9 episodes ordered for a total of 22. Not sure what that means for Legacies but given the ratings plus only 3 more episodes ordered for All American, it doesn't look good for it's future.

@SilverSurfer No real surprise. The numbers were terrible and the arrest was just the icing.

SilverSurfer posted 5 years ago

The Alec Baldwin Show has been effectively canceled. It's been yanked from Sundays @ 10pm and moved, starting Dec 8th, to Saturdays @ 10pm and is in burn off mode.

I'll be enjoying Midnight, Texas. :) Can't wait to see what my favorites have to offer for story lines in November Sweeps.
