Bubba Higgins, for those who are familiar with Thelma's daughter Eunice, and her eccentric ways, can easily spot the resemblance. Ed and Eunice are together, yet one of their sons has wandered astray. This is a result of them being unable to provide the necessary guidance, and instead tries to find comfort in every fashion trend around. Except for one scene where Bubba is wearing a half shirt, his belly button is otherwise constantly hidden by his high rise pants and the other shirts he has tucked in. In most of these occasions, he wears suspenders crookedly which makes the tucked in shirts look crooked also. He usually wears small custom knitted sweater vests that does not touch the hem of his high rise pants. The result of this outfit makes him look unusually skinny. Any hope of Thelma and Eunice getting along is destroyed when Thelma is told that they moved to Florida ages ago, abandoning Bubba to fend for him self, wreck their house from drug infested parties, and getting arrested numerous times. He seems to be court ordered to live with Thelma who ostensibly adopts him. There are many times that he cries out for his parents to even think about him. Bubba changes his life for the better drastically. There are a few times that Thelma steps in such as a very strict curfew, shooing away his toxic friends, forcing a massive educational instruction, and sending him away to camps where he might find healthier friends. One of Bubba's first jobs did not go well for him since he did not read the labels properly, and dropped a crate on his supervisor's feet. Bubba is also a skilled automotive mechanic, beginning with a restored scooter. Vinton gladly assumes the role of father figure and spirit guide, and disguises condom advice as the motorcycle helmet. Other times they team up together, and are targeted by Eugene Meechum's bullying when it was their turn to watch him.
