Inverness

In this episode, they visit Inverness to discover more about traditional music in the town and surrounding area. Accompanying Julie and Muireann on this trip are renowned Irish singer Aodán Ó Ceallaigh and esteemed Donegal fiddle player Liz Doherty. Julie and Aodán meet local singer Ellen MacDonald to learn a song by Màiri Mhòr nan Òran, which was composed in prison in Inverness. Muireann takes Liz Doherty to meet musician and broadcaster Bruce McGregor and they collaborate on Highland and Donegal fiddle tunes. Calum Alex MacMillan shares one of his favourite songs with Julie and Aodán which they later sing together. On a visit to Strathglass, acclaimed Highland musician Duncan Chisholm tells Julie and Liz about the background to Mo Rùn Geal Òg, a song written by Christina Ferguson, wife of William Chisholm - standard-bearer of the Chisholms of Strathglass at Culloden. The episode culminates in a session at folk music bar, The Waterfront.
