Wasn't sure whether this would be something for me, but giving it a shot and wasn't disappointed about it. Excellent pilot and keeps me curious for more.
Two words : Ferociously realistic. I think the most accurate analogy to describe '13 reasons why' is watching a horrific car crash in slo-mo from various angles/perspectives without being able to prevent it from happening . The show tackles some very heavy subjects ranging from bullying to rape to suicide in an uncompromising and extremely realistic way without being overly melodramatic.The whole 13 tapes concept just adds suspense to the proceedings and the way the story slowly unfolds while lives unravel before your eyes needs to be seen to be believed. On the acting front, performances from a mostly young cast are solid, cinematography is on point and the soundtrack is the cherry on top. '13 reasons why' should be viewed as a cautionary tale for generations to come. Kudos to the casting director who did a great job ! Highly recommended !
