Ellis Louis Marsalis Jr. was an American jazz pianist, active since the late 1940s. He fathered a dynasty as the father of four sons who became acclaimed musicians, including superstars Branford and Wynton Marsalis. Marsalis died from complications related to the COVID-19 coronavirus.
