John Oliver

John William Oliver is a popular English comedian, writer, producer, actor, and TV personality. He became known for his work in the news and satire program 'The Daily Show with John Stewart' for which he has won three Emmy Awards. Born in West Midlands, England, he studied at Christ's College, Cambridge University. During his time at the college, he became a member of the famous Cambridge Footlights Comedy Troupe. After his graduation, he continued to write as well as perform standup throughout England. Later, he co-created Political Animal, a political radio show, and also became a regular guest on the TV show 'Mock the Week'. He reached the peak of his career with his work in 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart' where he was the senior British correspondent for around seven years. He has also played guest roles in TV shows, such as 'People Like Us' and 'Danger Mouse'. He voiced one of the supporting characters in 'The Smurfs,' an American animated film, as well as in its sequel 'The Smurfs 2'. In his career so far, he has won six Emmy Awards, out of twelve nominations. He has also won other prestigious awards, such as The Writers Guild of America Award, the Dorian Award, and the Webby Award.
