Jamie Clayton, born James Murphy Clayton, is a transgender actress from San Diego. Her father, Howard Clayton, was a criminal defense attorney, and her mother, Shelley, an event planner. She moved to New York City to pursue a career as a makeup artist when she was 19. In 2010, Clayton launched her career into television as the makeup artist and co-host on VH1's first makeover show TRANSform Me. The series shows a cis female contestant as she is given a makeover by a team of three trans women stylists.
Clayton played the recurring role of Kyla in Season 3 of HBO's Hung (2009) and also starred in the Netflix original series Sense8 (2015), in which she played Nomi Marks, a transgender blogger and hacker from San Francisco. In 2016, she starred in The Neon Demon (2016), her first full-length feature film.
