Lola Young

Lola Young grew up in a musical household, and has named her influences as artists both old and new - from Joni Mitchell and Prince to Frank Ocean and Anderson .Paak.

She started writing songs at the age of 11, and was a student at the star-making Brit School in Croydon, an institution that counts Adele and Amy Winehouse among its alumni.

In 2016, she saw off competition from 9,000 other musicians to scoop the top prize at a national open mic contest, and was soon snapped up by the prestigious Island Records, which has previously released music from the likes of Bob Marley, Queen, Grace Jones and U2.

Her debut project, Intro, arrived in 2019, and she's recently spent time in the studio with Grammy, Oscar and BRIT Award-winning producer Paul Epworth, working on new songs that are set to be released as an as-yet-untitled collection.
