The search is on for the brightest stars in Aotearoa, as Māori Television proudly debuts the country's first ever talent competition with kapa haka at its core, The Stage – Haka Fusion.
From jazz to capoeira, ballet, hip-hop or hula, this one-of-a-kind show blends the old and new in a dramatically different competition series.
With a grand prize of $50,000 up for grabs, it is up to the contestants to push their creative boundaries on The Stage and convince Aotearoa, through the art form of haka fusion, that they have got what it takes to go all the way.
Whether you are eight or 80, Māori Television is looking for something fresh, exciting and never-seen-before to shake the haka world. Groups can range from 2-10 people with no limits to what performers bring to the table, so long as haka is at the heart.
Whatever the talent on show, audiences are guaranteed to see the good, the bad and the uncoordinated as we take you right through from the auditions to the grand finale. The hopeful contestants' fates lie with an expert panel of judges and the public, who can keep the dream alive for their favourite by voting from home.
