The Fosters - Episode Guide

Callie is quick to observe that the Fosters are an atypical family, and her blunt commentary hits a nerve with Jesus and Mariana who are struggling with their own identities. The twins have the opportunity to meet their birth mother, but they aren't sure if they are emotionally ready, or if they want to share the experience with their adoptive moms. Lena and Stef decide to let Brandon off the hook for running off with Callie to rescue Jude, but Mike disagrees and tensions flare. Brandon ends up grounded, but he makes plans to sneak away to see Talya while her parents are out of town. Jesus stops taking his medication to cover for his twin sister and the pills she stole, but he becomes easily agitated and gets into a fight with another kid at school. When a student is discovered with the pills, Callie becomes an instant suspect, and Mariana struggles with her mounting guilt over letting someone else take the fall for her actions. Meanwhile, a secret romance blossoms between Jesus and Mariana's best friend, Lexi. The Fosters make arrangements at home to ensure that Callie and Jude are more comfortable, but sharing their space may prove difficult for the Foster teens. Lena wants to throw Mariana the perfect Quinces party, while Stef balks at the cost of the event. Prompted by her moms, Mariana invites Callie to be in her court and Callie awkwardly accepts. Meanwhile, Lexi tells Jesus she doesn't want to sneak around behind Mariana's back anymore, but they're finding it hard to keep their hands off one another. Stef notices tension between Brandon and Talya over Callie and reminds Brandon that it's against the rules for foster siblings to have romantic relationships. Brandon brushes her off, but when Talya drops her friendly act and warns Callie against getting too close to her boyfriend, it might be the last straw for him. Lena's mother Dana arrives in town for the Quinceañera and the friction between mother and daughter is palpable. Mariana stumbles upon some news that could completely ruin her special day.

When things between Jesus and Lexi get hot and heavy, they are forced to face the possible consequences of their actions. Meanwhile, Callie gets closer to Wyatt but Brandon has serious reservations about Callie dating a "bad boy." Stef and Lena learn that two of their close friends, Kelly and Jenna, are having major relationship trouble and it causes them to look at the lack of romance in their own lives. Kelly and Jenna's hip and educated son, Garret (played by real life slam poet Noah St. John), catches Mariana's eye and she becomes desperate to fit in with his cool, edgy crowd. Jude is bullied at school for being different.

The Fosters invite Ernestoand Sofia Rivera to dinner, and Stef worries that they will subjugate Jesus to views that disapprove of his non-traditional family. To make matters worse, Stef's conservative father, Frank, shows up and the family dinner threatens to turn into an all-out moral debate. Meanwhile, Callie attends a group therapy session for foster children and meets someone with a connection to her past - a past that will come back to haunt her. Wyatt holds a destructive party at his childhood home, which is under foreclosure, and Callie realizes he's much more hurt than he lets on. Mike shows up late to take Brandon to an important audition with a renowned piano teacher.

Feeling betrayed and angry, Jesus and Mariana get into a major fight. When Lexi's parents take measures to keep her away from Jesus, Lexi makes a desperate decision, which could have serious and lasting consequences for her and her family. When an embarrassing video of Talya circulates around the school, Callie lends her support and urges Brandon cut her some slack. Mike's drinking and Stef's mounting concern do not go unnoticed at the precinct. Mariana and Jesus go to tell Ana to leave Mariana alone. Callie has a heart-to-heart with Brandon to help him understand the perspective of a foster child and Brandon learns how Callie's mother died. Wyatt calls Callie on her growing bond with Brandon but Callie is all too familiar with the damage that could result from this kind of relationship.

In the episode titled "I Do," Stef and Lena try to maintain calm when their parents descend on the Foster house for a very special celebration. Lena's dad, Stewart, has agreed to officiate the ceremony while her mother Dana and Stef's colorful, talkative mom Sharon, attempt to keep things civil while disagreeing on floral arrangements. Sharon tries to strong-arm Frank into attending. Stef avoids telling Lena she plans to return to work as soon as she is cleared. Meanwhile, when Callie's case against Liam boils down to her word against his, she must decide whether or not to lie in order to get some justice out of the situation. Callie and Jude get some news they've been hoping for, but Callie makes an emotional slip that could destroy any chance they finally have at happiness.

The repercussions of Callie's decision to run away impact every member of the Foster family, including newlyweds Stef and Lena, who had offered to adopt the troubled teen. Both Jude and Brandon struggle with their own personal guilt about her running away. Mariana inadvertently discovers the whole story about Lexi's upcoming trip to Honduras.

Callie meets Rita Hendricks, a woman who works in the foster care system, and it's clear it will take Callie some time to adjust to Rita's no-nonsense guidance. Brandon comes clean about the reason Callie ran away and, unbeknownst to Stef and Lena, he sets out to track her down. Meanwhile, Mariana volunteers to help with the school play in order to impress a cute boy, but when she gets paired up with an old "friend," it could spell trouble. Jesus' meds are having concerning side effects, and he's desperate to find an alternative to taking the pills. Mike suggests he participate in contact sports to help relieve his aggression, and Jesus tries out for the wrestling team.

When Callie's probation officer learns of Callie and Brandon's relationship, it poses serious consequences for both teens. Stef and Lena are forced to take more severe measures to keep them apart. Meanwhile, Stef returns to work, leaving Lena riddled with anxiety. Jesus bonds with his wrestling team but Lena's reaction to a hazing tradition threatens to shake the hard-earned respect of his teammates. Kelsey's jealousy over Mariana's growing attraction to Chase leads Kelsey to expose some nasty secrets from Mariana's past. Fearing Callie's actions will get them both sent away from the Fosters' home, Jude makes preparations.

And Callie's emotions get the better of her when things get hot and heavy with Wyatt.

Tragedy strikes the Fosters and they must look to each other for strength. Stef confronts Mike about Ana, and he comes clean about why he was at the halfway house the night of Ana's disappearance. Meanwhile, Wyatt seeks relationship advice from a very uncomfortable Brandon, and Mariana is still furious with Jesus for putting her in the middle of his girl problems.

Paranoid neighbors are putting pressure on the home's landlord to kick the girls out, and a new resident has secrets that could jeopardize the safety of the entire group.

Meanwhile, Mariana and Hayley plan to cook a romantic double-date dinner for Mat and Jesus. And Stef receives a concerning letter from Ana.

The Foster kids attend a Mexican street festival, but the fun day takes a turn when emotions flare up. With help from Wyatt, Callie works to overcome her recent bout of panic attacks by learning to trust her instincts, but an encounter with someone from the past threatens to violently derail her progress. Mat surprises Mariana with a date at the festival and is confused when Mariana seems offended. Jesus tries to impress Hayley but she wants him to prove he's with her for more than just sex.

Meanwhile, Mike and Ana make plans to right past wrongs.

In an effort to help Rita with a dilemma involving Girls United, Callie calls in a favor from her wealthy biological father, Robert Quinn. But an unexpected betrayal threatens to derail the new bond she's forging with the Quinns.

Meanwhile, the pressure Connor faces from his father to end his friendship with Jude intensifies and leads Lena to make a life-changing decision. The tension mounts between Brandon and Lou, despite their bandmate Mat's warnings against drama. And a visit with someone from his past makes Jesus see his relationship with Hayley in a whole new light.

Christmas is celebrated by the Fosters, and Stef feels that Sharon is being overgenerous. Meanwhile, a neighbor accuses Jesus of cheating in a house-decoration contest; and Jude overcompensates with Callie to alleviate his guilt over having been adopted.

Stef and Lena hesitate to give their blessing when Mariana's biological grandfather tells her she must be baptized in order to be her new half-sister Isabella's godmother. As the third season of "The Fosters" continues, former foster teen Callie is now officially adopted into the Adams Foster family. She must put aside any romantic feelings for Brandon and does so by throwing herself into her "Fost and Found" website, even drawing the interest of an investor (guest star Kelli Williams, "Detective McLean: Ties That Bind," "Army Wives"). After his performance at Disney Hall, Brandon is approached by a recruiter from Juilliard. Mariana launches her campaign to run for junior class president while Jesus tries to hide the reason why he doesn't want to go back to wrestling school. When Mike discovers a secret his foster son, AJ, is keeping, he is torn about what to do with the information. Jude must face the fact that his boyfriend has decided to move away, and a serious medical issue for Stef results in a clash of opinion between her wife, Lena, and her mother, Sharon. Meanwhile, Sharon introduces the family to her liberal-minded friend, Will.

Brandon's senior thesis is in jeopardy when a student raises concerns about the play glorifying suicide, leaving the school honor board to vote on whether or not his Romeo and Juliet musical can be performed at Anchor Beach. Rita's (guest star Rosie O'Donnell) daughter Chloe reaches out to Callie after Rita refuses to take her calls. Meanwhile, Stef teaches a class on handling emotion as part of a Youth Outreach Program.

Jesus is upset after his plans for a low key birthday are supplanted by Mariana, who plans a huge dance party instead. Jude is excited by the prospect of a weekend visit with Connor. Meanwhile, Callie and Brandon strike a truce by agreeing not to bring their new respective significant others home or to family functions.

Mariana worries Nick will break up with her after Zoe reveals that she cheated on Mat when they dated. Meanwhile, Callie serves as a character witness for a friend trying to regain custody of her daughter; and the twins try to help their birth father.

As they perform the parts of Romeo and Juliet on the show's big opening night, Mat and Mariana are forced to face the depth of their feelings for each other. The musical performance sparks heightened emotion for members of the Adams Foster family, causing them to reflect on recent events. Meanwhile, a domestic violence call leads Stef to a tragic discovery.

A tragic loss leads Callie to make a shocking discovery, putting her in a moral dilemma; and a gift from Nick causes Mariana to feel more guilty about her and Mat. Meanwhile, Brandon reveals to his moms that Cortney has a child.

Tensions run high as Stef and Lena are called to action when the school is put on lockdown after it's discovered that Mariana's boyfriend Nick brought a gun on campus

The Adams Foster household's on lockdown in their own home following the crisis at school; and Callie and Brandon anxiously wait for their mothers to address their behavior in Idyllwild. Meanwhile, Stef's furious when she discovers Brandon snuck out to help Cortney move.

Callie gets suspended after she reacts inappropriately to some taunting, but things start looking up for her when she meets a young law student. Meanwhile, Mariana's classmates fault her for Nick's actions; and Jude is invited to Taylor's youth group.

Callie starts her senior project of photographing the outside of her and Jude's seven former foster homes. But, when an unexpected encounter with a former foster mother brings her inside, Callie decides to reach out to other people who have fostered her and is shocked to learn that a 17-year-old former foster brother has been convicted of murder. Stressed out by the hardships of supporting himself and Cortney, Brandon throws a house party and things take a turn for the worse. Stef and Lena offer to pay for an attorney to help get Gabe off of the sex offender registry, which is currently putting Lena's job at risk and causing friction between Mike and Ana.

Lena is excited that her family is coming together to throw her a 70s-themed 40th birthday party. But, when Lena's mom Dana shares her suspicions about Stewart's behavior, it threatens to put a damper on the festivities. Convinced her former foster brother Kyle has been wrongly convicted of murder, Callie and Aaron try to track down a witness in the case. Mariana and her female STEAM club teammates compete for an invite to the Regional Robotics Competition.

Lena and Stef grow concerned about the tax on their house and how it could affect the family; and Lena confronts Brandon about the money he gave to Cortney.

When Jesus's birth father, Gabe, doesn't show up to work on Stef and Lena's garage, Jesus takes on the job himself and gets injured in the process. An exhausted Mariana, deep into her robotics STEAM project, takes Jesus' ADHD medicine for a boost. Callie and AJ find themselves in an awkward situation when Mike and Brandon unexpectedly come home early. Meanwhile, Stef lets Mike know that Brandon gave his hand injury settlement money to Cortney.

Brandon travels to New York City for his Julliard audition and meets a girl who forces him to take a hard look at his life, including his relationship with Cortney.
