"Queen of the South" to Return for a 10-episode Fifth and Final Season

USA Network’s “Queen of the South” will return for a 10-episode fifth and final season on Wednesday, April 7 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Queen of the South tells the powerful story of Teresa Mendoza, a woman who is forced to run from the Mexican carte The original drama series is based on the global best-selling novel “La Reina Del Sur,” by internationally acclaimed author Arturo Pérez-Reverte. The literary page-turner also yielded a popular super series for USA’s sister network, Telemundo.

‘Queen of the South’ Renewed for Season 5 at USA Network

USA Network has renewed “Queen of the South” for a fifth season. The news comes ahead of the Season 4 finale, which airs tonight. The series is based on the book “La Reina Del Sur” by Arturo Pérez-Reverte. It stars Alice Braga has Teresa Mendoza, a woman who is forced to run from a Mexican drug cartel and seek refuge in the United States.

'Queen of the South' Renewed for Season 4 — With New Showrunners

USA Network is bringing drama Queen of the South back for a fourth season — with a change. Showrunner Natalie Chaidez has exited the Fox 21 and Universal Cable Productions drama to focus on development. Instead, Dailyn Rodriguez and Ben Lobato have been promoted to serve as co-showrunners and exec producers, replacing Chaidez. (Chaidez, it should be noted, replaced original showrunner Scott Rosenbaum.)
