episode number: differentiating between a "special" and missing information

in your docs you say that "special" episodes have null value for the field number.

so... how can i tell the difference between a "special" episode and an episode with missing number information?

if there is an episode with an unknown number but it's not a "special", how is this represented?

I don't think that's possible. The system does not allow to create an episode without number.

Correct, regular episodes always have a number.
