So I have been using tvmaze for about 2 weeks for developing a test app.
There are 2 things I cant get around.
First there is not always a date for the next episode ( this I can deal with )
second that there is mostly no data for how many episodes in total a season will have ... so I have no way to determine when a season is complete...( cant deal with that)
I was thinking of using a second api like tvdb or imbd which dont have these issues . Is this recommended / common solution ?
TVmaze is an open database which relies on Contributors adding the information.
We can add information from thetvdb if there is the external ID set on a show.
In regards to season completion, we do have the episode order property on seasons, however for you to be able to use that, it means someone has to fill it out.
Everyone's welcome to add missing data if they see it (and register their account).
You can retrieve this information from the season level, e.g. http://api.tvmaze.com/shows/32158/seasons (episodeOrder: 13)

This information is not always announced by the network, so there's no way to predict this, until the season finale episode announced.
