This is painfully boring with the worst written dialogue and wooden acting. Putting aside the complete departure from the canon, which could be forgiven if it was engaging, it is a patchwork of trying to replicate LOTR, but without any likable characters (except maybe the Dwarves) and without any kind of emotion whatsoever.
Waited a year for this with great anticipation, but desperately disappointed. It does look pretty though.
The Mill
What a slow and uninspiring start to a show. It drudged on, every minute feeling like a slog. Will hang in for a little bit longer, see if it picks up, and for Mark Pellegrino.
The Vigil
Some of the casting choices in this are just totally mind boggling, the longer it goes the more wrong it becomes. Huge King fan and always hang on to the slim hope that somebody will actually get it right for television. Adaptations have challenges, this is understood, but you have to wonder sometimes if all they did was read the summary and the first chapter then the last page. Yep, good to go, lets take everything great about this story, strip it away and make it shiny new.
Came across this by accident and saw that David Tennant was in it so figured it was worth a shot. It was a complete surprise at how good it was, very interesting, well acted and directed, really nice to see such tight writing and a credible story. Am very intrigued to see where this goes.
