About a Boy - Episode Guide

When quirky single mom Fiona and her son Marcus move in next door, Will's perfect world is changed forever.

Andy guilts Will into agreeing to babysit Marcus so Fiona can go on a job interview, but the situation gets complicated when they receive a last-minute invitation to a once-in-a-lifetime charity pool party hosted by rap star Lil Jon. Meanwhile, Fiona discovers that honesty isn't always the best policy when it comes to landing a job.

Will attempts a much-needed boy's night out with Andy, but complications arise, leaving Will to reach out to Marcus in hopes of salvaging the evening. When Andy later becomes available, he attempts to track down Will, but instead winds up bonding over the joys of parenting with Fiona. Meanwhile, Andy and his reluctant wife Laurie solicit Will to be godfather to their son Jonah.

Marcus asks Will for advice on how he can get Hannah to invite him to her upcoming birthday party. When that proves unsuccessful, Fiona takes it to task with Joanne, Hannah's mother, who also happens to be the queen bee of a group of neighborhood moms that she is trying to win over.

When Marcus starts hinting that Will and Fiona should start dating each another, Will does everything in his power to set him straight. Meanwhile, Fiona gets advice from Dakota to get back into the dating scene, and with very little game, seizes the opportunity by asking out her plumber - with results she didn't quite anticipate.

With Fiona putting in extra hours at work, Marcus finally gets his own house key, but he quickly loses his mom's trust when Will has to rush him to the emergency room following an untimely incident with a knife. However, Marcus' misfortune has a silver lining for Will when he crosses paths with Dr. Samantha Lake, a beautiful and charming doctor who comes to Marcus' aid. Will is instantly smitten and stops at nothing in his attempts to win her over - even if it means bending the truth.

Will throws a poker night for his friends, including Andy, Crosby, TJ and Richard, but the event is hijacked by Fiona, who has no problem making herself at home with the guys. Meanwhile, Marcus goes on his first sleepover, but has a hard time staying the night when he finds the others aren't as nice to him as he had hoped.

Fiona volunteers to run a project for Marcus's class - a miniature society modeled after Dickensian London. Wanting to be King of the mock economy, Fiona instead selects him as the lowly slopmaster, much to his dismay, prompting him to figure out a clever yet questionable solution to turn things around. Meanwhile, Will takes Marcus out on a spending spree, thanks to his latest royalty check and then does his best to throw the perfect party to impress Sam.

Andy and Laurie host a game night and Will invites Sam, but things don't go exactly as planned when she arrives. When his friend TJ asks Fiona to join him for the festivities, Will goes to great lengths to discourage any sparks from flying. Meanwhile, Marcus is uneasy when he discovers the mother of an older mean girl at school will be babysitting him.

Marcus is elated when his father, Hugh Womple takes a break from his penguin research in Antarctica to make a surprise visit. While Fiona does her best to mask her tormented attraction, she can't help but notice how consumed Hugh is with his work and his indifference towards anything Marcus is interested in. At Fiona's urging, Will steps in and does his best to encourage some much needed father-son bonding. Meanwhile, Sam's demanding work schedule throws a wrench into their plans for romance.

Marcus is excited for his first ever big birthday party and Will agrees to help plan it. But complications arise when Sam asks Will to a gala at the hospital, creating a scheduling problem. To make matters even worse, Will and Andy discover that one of Marcus's popular classmates is having a birthday bash on the same day. Meanwhile, Fiona and Sam get into a disagreement, and Will finds himself stuck in the middle.

Will invites Sam to temporarily move in with him when she is forced to evacuate her apartment. However, when Andy warns Will that his home will soon be transformed into her place, similar to what had transpired with him and Annie, Will starts to panic. Meanwhile, Fiona misreads a conversation and is under the false impression that Sam is pregnant and Will and Marcus build a treehouse together.

Will is completely heartbroken when Sam receives a job opportunity she can't refuse in New York, prompting Fiona and Marcus to try their best to comfort their friend. With her absence weighing on his mind, Will turns to Andy for his sage advice in figuring out how to best move forward.

Will returns to San Francisco to sort out his finances after a surprising royalty check. Andy reveals to him that his wife Laurie might be pregnant and he needs Will's help to find out. Meanwhile, Marcus's new "friends" don't sit well with Will and he attempts to convince Fiona that the kids are up to no good.

In an effort to fix his money problems, Will is advised to sell his house in San Francisco. Faced with his impending absence away from Fiona and Marcus, Will focuses all of his energies into finding Marcus a new best friend. Meanwhile, Sam flies out to help Will pack up the rest of his belongings, only to discover a few surprises when she arrives.

Will throws his annual Halloween bash, much to the dismay of Fiona and Marcus, who consider it one of their least favorite holidays. Despite the fact that Fiona believes Will has other motives for throwing the party, she ends up meeting Sean there and reveals a whole new side of herself. After a few mishaps at the party, Will shows Marcus the joys of Halloween.

Marcus encounters the unimaginable while assisting the school principal for the day, when he meets Shea, a 14-year-old rebel with a penchant for trouble. Quickly developing a crush, Marcus takes the fall for a school incident she was responsible for, leaving Fiona and Will to face some major parenting conflicts in dealing with the situation.

Will is sued by an angry ex-girlfriend, Stacy, who is claiming she co-wrote his song "Runaway Sleigh." Will looks to Fiona for help in hopes that she can persuade Stacy to drop the lawsuit. However, things don't go according to plan as Fiona begins to sympathize with Stacy. Meanwhile, Marcus tries relentlessly to spark a run-in with bad girl Shea, as he continues in his quest for her affection.

Marcus is ecstatic when a popular new teacher, Mr. Chris casts him as Romeo in the school production of notable Shakespeare scenes. Marcus asks Will to build the balcony set for his scene, however Will is more interested in watching "The Three Stooges" marathon with Marcus instead. Threatened by Mr. Chris' growing relationship with Marcus, Will tries to impress them with the construction of his balcony. Elsewhere, Mr. Chris not only has gained a fan in Marcus, but Fiona as well.

Nervous for her first real date with Mr. Chris, Fiona begs Dakota to accompany her as her safety net on the date. Will also finds himself tagging along as he attempts to woo Dakota. Meanwhile, with Fiona and Will busy with their double-dating escapades, Marcus spends the evening with Andy and Laurie.

With Christmas celebrations in full swing, Will is in agony over the cheerfulness around his least favorite holiday and the constant playing of his hit song "Runaway Sleigh." With his lawsuit still pending, Laurie advises Will to settle and move on. Refusing to give up any of his earnings, Will and Marcus go on a search for the original handwritten song lyrics as evidence to prove he is the sole writer of the song. Meanwhile, Fiona and Andy try to create the perfect white Christmas for Marcus.

STARS-To celebrate a year of friendship, Marcus convinces Will to take him to the Golden Gate FemFest. Much to his chagrin, Will obliges and attempts to sneak backstage to fulfill Marcus' dreams of meeting Lisa Loeb, who is headlining the festival. Meanwhile, Dakota helps Fiona prepare for a night of intimacy with Chris.

When Will learns Andy scored an invite to music mogul Johnny Idalis' son's Bar Mitzah, he sees an opportunity to get his music noticed and forces Andy to make him his plus one. With a push from Shea, Marcus convinces Fiona to let him stay home alone while she is on a date with Chris. During their night out alone, mischievous Shea takes Marcus party crashing while Andy and Will find themselves deep into a lie to impress Johnny.

With the help of Andy, Will gets music mogul Johnny Idalis to listen to a new song he wrote, however Johnny isn't impressed with the hook. Meanwhile, Marcus grows upset and frustrated with Chris and Fiona's growing relationship and flees to crash with Will, who is left struggling to juggle writing a catchy hook and the complications of his new roommate.

Looking to make some quick cash, Will decides to start teaching guitar lessons. However, after a fling with his student's mom, Emma, Andy speculates that Will is being paid for more than just his musical expertise. Elsewhere, Fiona finds herself suddenly accepted by the popular moms at school and Marcus prepares to perform at the upcoming school fundraiser.

To Will and Fiona's surprise, Shea accepts Marcus' proposal to be his girlfriend. However, Shea's idea of a boyfriend translates closer to a personal assistant than a companion. Elsewhere, Fiona attempts to be more spontaneous with Chris, while Will chaperones Marcus and Shea's frozen yogurt date.

To Will and Fiona's surprise, Shea accepts Marcus' proposal to be his girlfriend. However, Shea's idea of a boyfriend translates closer to a personal assistant than a companion. Elsewhere, Fiona attempts to be more spontaneous with Chris, while Will chaperones Marcus and Shea's frozen yogurt date.

Will is convinced that Chris is cheating on Fiona so he follows Chris to a hotel, where Chris reveals he has accepted a job offer out of the country, while Fiona prepares to tell Chris she loves him. Meanwhile, Marcus is trying to raise enough money to take Shea on a date to the movies so Marcus sells his silence to Andy for $100.

Will's new girlfriend Liz wants to hang out all day, the same day that Will volunteers to dig a hole for Fiona to throw all of her memories of Chris into to burn.

Andy and Laurie vacation apart, Fiona and Laurie have a Spa day staycation in San Francisco, while Will and Andy head to Las Vegas where Andy goes on a drunken spending spree on magic tricks until Laurie shows up to renew her vows with Andy. Meanwhile Marcus tries to read a romance novel to understand adult relationships to impress Shea.

Marcus feels betrayed after Will tries to impress Clay, his girlfriend Liz's son, Meanwhile Fiona is becoming a doula and trying to patch up Andy and Laurie's relationship.

Clay is trying to steal Shea away from Marcus, Meanwhile Liz feels there may be something strange about the relationship between Will and Fiona.

Will plays wing-man for Marcus, but Marcus wants to win Shea back at the school dance, Liz dumps Will after he defends Fiona, Marcus professes his love for Shea, Fiona and Will kiss.
