Ratings Roundup for the Week of March 8, 2026

NOTE: For some reason, the Sunday night ratings were scrambled. There are viewer numbers, but not ratings information, for most of the night.

CBS surprised no one with a quick renewal for Marshals last week. The series did lose a little over one million viewers in its second week after the looky-loos had their peek, but there was little doubt it would be renewed. CIA was up two hundred thousand viewers. Its numbers aren't great, but it could still squeak a renewal. FBI picked up one hundred thousand viewers. America's Culinary Cup lost two hundred thousand viewers it couldn't afford. Watson was also down. It lost three hundred thousand viewers. Its hopes for renewal are fading with the improved numbers for CIA. DMV was even with the previous week. As the lowest-rated comedy for the network, and the fact that it and Watson are the only fall premiering shows without a renewal announcement yet, the future does not bode well.

NOTE: March Madness begins this week. CBS schedules, especially on Thursday and Friday nights, will be scrambled for the duration of the tournament

ABC had a workmanlike week last week. RJ Decker lost half a million viewers off its premiere. It can't afford any more losses if it wants to see a season two. Fans of the 9-1-1 franchise celebrated the show's renewals by watching something else. 9-1-1 was down four hundred thousand viewers, while spinoff 9-1-1: Nashville lost two hundred thousand viewers. The Rookie lost one hundred thousand viewers behind American Idol, which was also down one hundred thousand viewers. The Greatest Average American was even with the previous week.

NBC remained mum regarding the future of most of its shows last week. One Chicago returned to more regular numbers following the crossover week. Law & Order was down two hundred thousand viewers. Law & Order: SVU lost one hundred thousand viewers. The Hunting Party lost more than a million viewers last week. Its hopes for renewal are fading. Between it and Brilliant Minds, one of them will be cancelled. One faint bit of good news for Hunting Party fans is that the remaining episodes of Brilliant Minds are slated to be burnt off over the summer. That is never a good sign regarding a show's future. Stumble wrapped its first season, down one hundred thousand viewers. Chances are, it will be quietly cancelled.  The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins was even.

FOX enjoyed a nice ratings bump with the World Baseball Classic. The Sunday animation block split the difference last week. Family Guy lost three hundred thousand viewers for its first episode and another hundred thousand with the second. American Dad! and Universal Basic Guys were each up one hundred thousand viewers. Best Medicine picked up one hundred thousand viewers. Fans of Doc celebrated their renewal by finding some friends to watch with them. It was up two hundred thousand viewers. Fear Factor: House of Fear was even.

Renewal decisions for Fall shows have already been made. (even if networks haven't announced them yet.) Winter and Spring shows have only a few weeks to impress the execs and earn another season. Will your favorite shows be back again next season?

agreed. I think they were hoping for another Leary success like Rescue Me and missed.

I didn't expect Going Dutch to be renewed last year, and it was. Animal Control has been renewed. As far as I know, FOX doesn't have another scripted half-hour comedy in the pipe (but I haven't been paying close attention the last few weeks), so Going Dutch may be renewed to fill the back half of the hour slot. Murder in a Small Town had pretty consistent viewer numbers in the 2 million range, which put it about par with Doc. Assuming FOX wants scripted content (they seem to pair things back every couple of years on the scripted front, so that is a significant 'if'), Murder in a Small Town should be renewed.
