Klaus has the power to see and speak with the dead, and he's long tried to ignore them by abusing drugs and alcohol, feeding his habit by stealing from his father. Season two revealed that Klaus' ability is even more powerful than he originally realized: He can physically manifest ghosts to protect him or fight on his behalf.
