Майкл Щур

Michael Omelyanovich Schur is a comic character invented by Roman Vintoniv. According to legend, Michael Schur is a correspondent for the UT-Toronto TV channel of the Ukrainian diaspora in Canada, which was sent to Ukraine before the 2012 parliamentary elections to interview Ukrainian politicians. He has a wife, Amanda, and a cousin, Tatiana Schur.

In his program "What do you live, Ukraine?" the journalist asked straightforward and naive questions to Ukrainian politicians. In total, six issues of this program were released.

In late 2014, Toronto Television, which broadcasts all of Michael Schur's videos, acquired the Silver Play Button Youtube as a channel with 100,000 subscribers.

The legend of Michael Schur's "Canadianism" was a key component of humor in his early work, but gradually lost relevance. In 2019, Roman Vintoniv spoke about his image as follows:
"I don't have several images: there is Schur and there is Vintoniv. They are almost the same, just called differently. Schur used to speak with a Canadian accent, but then stopped, and Vintoniv didn't wear a mustache, and then started."

The image of Michael Schur was created by Vintoniv by his wife Anna Babinets, who used the pseudonym Amanda Schur. The image was also inspired by the British comedian Sasha Baron Cohen with his fictional characters who interviewed celebrities.
