Associated with movements for protest and social change, protest music is part of the broader category of topical songs (or songs connected to current events). It came to prominence in the United States during the 1960s Vietnam War Era, and may be folk, classical, or commercial in genre.

This series has strayed so far from when it started (and was much more enjoyable) with plenty of different people talking about artists and bands. They have whittled it down to now just talking about whatever music genre they feel like waxing about and not very well.
There is Will Hodgkinson who likes to keep “CliffsNotes” about what he is talking about on the backside of the album covers he holds up. John Aizlewood who is so overly pompous and thinks he’s the ultimate know it all of music. And Sunta Templeton who isn’t much better than the other two.
I really hope they revamp this and go back to dedicating each episode to an artist or band and maybe start bring in people to talk about them that actually know/knew them or are at least more knowledgeable about what these three are yammering on about. Either that or just stick a fork in this series and end it.
