I can't get through this first episode. Sci-fi? Well... okay, I guess. Comedy? Did the writers actually think anything in the first half of this episode was funny? Even with a laugh track, I still wouldn't know when to laugh.
Ok so... First episode? Just following. By the third episode I was HOOKED! Great writing with TRUE character arcs.
First episode I am thinking, wtf? You need SOMEONE to "get behind". But everyone, every character. Every major character... Are all ASSHOLES. All of them!
Then by the end of first, then into second episode, a few start to grow on you. Really grow on you. Deliberately, we are not seeing them at their best in E01. And then it unfolds the backgrounds and one starts to empathize with the people and to root for them. No. They are not perfect. BY A LONG SHOT. Which makes them human. And relatable. First episode gets... BRUTAL. Especially near the end in "THE FIGHT" that moves the whole series along. But then you actually start to see the ...Love. Actual love. Not, fairy-tale love. Real love, warts and all. Which is HARD to write well and this is written superbly!
This is a commentary on marriage and relationships. With spouses, with friends, with co workers, with Big business. Unflinchingly with a great sci fi backdrop.Which... Is when sci fi REALLY shines! This is Must See TV!
