Seeking to interview Sir Oliver Standish, a vacationing British diplomat, American foreign correspondent Glenn Evans stumbles across and becomes part of a story he can't rush into print in ‘Murder Royal” on the second episode of the new “Hong Kong" series Wednesday night, Oct. 5, on ABC-TV.
Glenn (Rod Taylor) discovers that Sir Oliver (Frederic Worlock) is directing a secret plan to save the life of a critically wounded Asian potentate who was the victim of an assassination plot in his own country. The king is to be operated upon by British doctors in Hong Kong and then is to rush home, where the public believe he escape unharmed from the murder attempt.
The object is to convince Communist elements there that the kings still in strong physical control of the government in order to forestall any attempted takeover by the Reds. Sir Oliver agrees to confide in Evans if he will participate in the plan and will also delay cabling his story until the project is completed.
