Mona McCluskey sets off a chain reaction when she writes the Secretary of the Air Force demanding that her husband, Sgt. Mike McCluskey (series co-star Denny Miller), be given a raise. Mona writes the secretary because her boss pressures her to move into a home befitting a star of her stature—$5,000-per-week. But because Mike insists they live on his income— $500-per-month — she cannot move unless he makes more money. General Crone (series co-star Herb Rudley), Mike's commanding officer, learns of the letter when informed that a high Air Force official is coming to investigate the situation. He orders Mike to silence Mona. But Mona refuses to cooperate, and Mike, angry, moves out. Heartbroken, Mona decides to give up her career —right in the middle of a picture —and creates further complications. Other regular series co-stars include Barlett Robinson as Frank Caldwell, head of the studio to which Mona is under contract. Robinson does not appear in the premiere.
