So what has any year got to do with it? Why the hell do these scriptwriters have to ram ethnic diversity or sexual orientation down our throats (or up anywhere else for that matter)? For example, the new Doctor Who. The lady version was acceptable, but why does he have to be a black, gay person who spends the whole show grinning like a simpleton. Maybe if the writers concentrated on writing a good story and/or script, instead of concentrating on including every type of diverse people, maybe they may do a little better. 

Ok, I give up. Since when in any fictional writing was Watson a person of colour??? Too far to swallow...

They seem to have dropped the ball with this one. Gone is the wonderful humour of the bumbling English plod trying to make head or tail of Caribbean life, instead we get some smart arsed London DCI who doesn't give a hoot about anybody. I got bored after an hour and was seriously considering turning it off, but stuck with it just to see if somebody shot the detective. A serious casting mistake and wasn't a pleasure to watch this time. Hopefully he manages to catch the plane soon.

Terrible doesn't even begin to describe this travesty of a classic movie. No Dwarves, no funny puns in the Monty Python style, some obnoxious child in the lead, all in all a total disaster from the start. The writers really have just run out of good ideas. Bin it.
