Dora Winifred Read

Dora Winifred Read is the middle child of The Read House. She and her sister have the largest bedroom in the house with an equally large closet. During the episodes she learns how to ride a bicycle and how to read and write. We learn that Winfred is not Jane's maiden name but from her paternal great grandfather's sister that taught the family how to cook. She was the oldest sibling and died on Arthur's middle sister's birthday so they gave her the same name. D.W. has an eccentric personality that often clashes with Arthur and bonds with Muffy. She occasionally throws temper tantrums as she is unable to get other people to understand. Despite Arthur fearing embarrassment, his friends like D.W., at times even more than they like Arthur. Most episodes show D.W. in her preschool times, but has access to Lakewood Elementary School since Thora is on the P.T.A. and works often doing fund raisers. D.W.'s eccentric personality is attributed to being the middle child as well as several classmates feeling left out thus are very pushy.
