Yeahbut... Luthor is finally in. With an actor that can CARRY that mantle? That is two full seasons worth of storytelling right there without the writers even trying. Heck that would just write itself. Specially how they brought him in with the flashback prison intro he got.

Michael Cudlitz as Lex Luthor is an absolute treat! And he definitely can inspire two full seasons worth of storytelling, perhaps even more. BUT we're talking about the Nextstar bought CW that got rid of all other DC shows and has announced that its future lies with unscripted shows, Canadian & UK imports and low-budget series in general. I don't know if you've heard but, amid budget cuts, The CW decided that only 4 out of the 12 main cast actors will return as regulars next season. So only the four members of the Kent family are certain to return. Everyone else may or may not return as guest stars or recurring depending on availability, (lack of) interest, and how the salary negotiations will go. So, even if Michael Kulitz as Lex Luthor is an asset, there are other factors that foreshadow a highly uncertain and bleak future for the show. That's why I believe next season should be written and produced as a great final season.

The official press release doesn't mention Season 4 being the final season of the series, but I hope it is. I think the show had a good run but it's time for it to end. This renewal gave Superman & Lois the chance to have a final season with a proper ending rather than having to wonder if next year is the year it will meet the axe of cancellation. Let's hope the creative team realize that.
