Thomas Mitchell

Thomas Mitchell was a star of stage, screen and television. He made his first film appearance in 1936 and, three years later, won an Academy Award for best performance by a supporting actor, in "Stagecoach." He received four other Academy Award nominations, and his best-known films include "The Long Voyage Home," "Gone with the
Wind," and "High Noon." He starred in "Death of a Salesman," among other stage hits, and his best-remembered television performances were in "The Mayor of the Town," "O. Henry's Playhouse" and "Glencannon" series, and in numerous specials including "Ah, Wilderness" and "THe Secret of Freedom."
