Frank Sutton

Frank Sutton, the actor who portrayed Marine Sgt. Vince Carter on Gomer Pyle, died June 28, 1974, of a heart attack while appearing in a road company version of Luv. The 51-year-old actor made his tv debut in a 1948 Philco Playhouse drama. His first film role was that of Ralph in the Academy Award winning Ernest Borgnine movie Marty (1955). The cum laude Columbia graduate was well prepared for his Gomer Pyle acting assignment having himself served as a Marine sergeant during WW II.
