J.C. is an African-American detective at the Fourth Precinct. He has a son, Gregory, whom he fathered as a teenager with then-girlfriend Chantal Tierney. His partner Eddie Torres was his closest friend. Williams is now overseeing the unit and the next generation of detectives.
