In the STAR Labs workshop, Frost wakes up and checks on Iris and Cisco. Frost figures that Barry is now one of Bloodwork's "Blood Brothers". Cisco activates a force field around the labs and figures that Bloodwork has a plan. Frost uses a police scanner to find out what's going on outside the field. Cisco has a photon Emitter that he believes can drive the black blood out of Bloodwork and anyone he's infected, and figures they should go after Bloodwork first. He admits that he hasn't tested it, and Iris warns that it could kill Barry. A woman calls on the scanner saying her husband has been infected, and they realize that Bloodwork is spreading his infection by spreading fear.
At the Citizen, Kamilla gets a sudden wave of empathic fear. Allegra comes in, and they realize that one of the Blood Brothers is outside. They hide and Cecile figures they have to get out of the building.
Blood Brothers roam the city, and Joe tells his men to use non-lethal force against the possessed innocents. Bloodwork tells Joe that he's going to transform the city by dawn and Joe can't stop him. Joe draws a gun on him, but Dark Flash arrives with a woman and Bloodwork possesses her. Joe tries to get through to Dark Flash, but he says that humanity needs fixing. Frost arrives as the woman collapses, and she tells Joe that Dark Flash isn't Barry anymore. Bloodwork says that he's cured death and tells Dark Flash to continue their mission. Dark Flash speeds off, and the woman and the other Blood Brothers and Sisters surround Joe and Frost.
Power goes out throughout the4 city, and Nash says that he's coming for the Monitor. The Monitor tells Nash to bow down to him and all he desires shall be his. Nash yells for the Monitor to let him in, and Nash says that he's tracked the Monitor across planets and the alien can't stop him. The tunnel lights go dark, and Nash wonders if the Monitor or faulty lighting is responsible. He activates a glo-stick, and finds himself face-to-face with a Blood Brother.
Cecile tells Kamilla that the fear through the city is overwhelming her. Kamilla figures that Cecile is feeling the fear the zombies are feeling, and says that she's a zombie detector... and their way out.
As Cisco works, he and Iris listen to the police scanner. Dark Flash announces over the radio for Iris to meet him where their life began. As Iris goes, Cisco warns that it might be a trap and it's too risky. He says that if it's not Barry, Iris could get infected or worse. She refuses to take the Emitter with her and leaves.
Iris breaches to the apartment and finds Dark Flash waiting for her. Bloodwork speaks through him and asks Iris if she sees.
Cisco accesses the audio on the interdimensional extrapolator and hears Bloodwork talking to Iris, saying that he can offer her immortality. Iris tries to get through to Barry, saying that she loves him, and figures their story doesn't end that way. She asks him to come home to her, and Dark Flash grabs her. Bloodwork says that Iris accepted Barry's death, and Dark Flash vibrates his hand to drive it into her chest. However, Bloodwork tells her that it's not over and speeds off.
Iris returns to STAR Labs and sits down, shocked. Cisco asks if she's okay, explaining that he heard what happened and says that he's sorry. Iris figures that she has to try again, and Cisco says that they have to use the Emitter to take down Bloodwork and Dark Flash. He insists that they were going to lose Barry anyway and figures it was the moment Barry prepared them for. Iris refuses to give up on Barry, and Cisco says that no one is giving up on anybody because there's nothing left to give up on and Barry is gone. Whether or not the Emitter works, Barry is going to leave them. Cisco says that when the Emitter is ready, he's going to use it on Bloodwork and Dark Flash.
One of the zombies hits Joe from behind, and Frost releases a blast of cold. When one of the zombies gets up, Allegra arrives and hits it with a pipe. Frost uses an extrapolator to breach them away.
Cecile and Kamilla make their way through the building, avoiding zombies using Cecile's empathy. Despite the fear overwhelming her, Cecile manages to control herself and keep moving. As they reach the outside door, a zombie slams into the door from the outside and the two women hide. As the zombie searches for them, Kamilla throws a stapler to distract it and the women run, fighting their way past the zombies and finally barricading themselves behind the outside door before heading to STAR Labs.
Bloodwork cures the zombies blasted by Frost. Cisco arrives through a breach and blasts Bloodwork with the Emitter. Dark Flash grabs Cisco and throws him to the ground, smashing the Emitter. Bloodwork grabs Cisco by the throat, and Iris listens via the extrapolator. However, Bloodwork releases Cisco and says that he has another purpose to serve, and his army is marching on STAR Labs. The villain boasts that he's going to detonate the particle accelerator and spread his black blood throughout Central City. He tells Cisco to go and warn the others, and Bloodwork says that he picked the right guy. Bloodwork then yells to Iris, saying that he's coming home.
Back at STAR Labs, Cisco checks the video and confirms that Barry was hacking the particle accelerator while he was there. Frost, Cisco, and Allegra arrives Frost says that she can't help Joe and reverts to Caitlin, who talks to Frost saying that she can heal Joe's wound with her frost powers. Frost insists that she can't bring herself to do it after Ralph and Barry, and Caitlin tells her to face her fear. Frost takes over the body and heals Joe's wound.
Nash fights the zombie and uses a sonic device to immobilize it. The device malfunctions and more zombies arrive.
Iris tells Cisco that both their plans failed, and Cisco figures they should have worked out a plan together. He blames himself for not leading the team, and Iris tells him that it's not too late. Cisco remembers Bloodwork echoing Barry's words, and figures that Barry is fighting Bloodwork through their link. He figures that Barry is still alive inside of Dark Flash and is trying to tell them what to do. Bloodwork and Dark Flash arrive at the barrier, and Bloodwork says that he has arrived to fulfill his destiny. Dark Flash tells Iris and Cisco to let the light in, and Cisco realizes what Barry's plan is: they need to lower the defenses and let them in. Cisco drops the barrier and the two men go in.
Dark Flash and Bloodwork lead their zombies into the accelerator chamber and Bloodwork orders the zombies to find Team Flash. Meanwhile, Cisco tells Allegra to spread the antidote with a UV blast. Allegra looks to Frost, who nods in agreement.
Dark Flash checks a monitor, and Bloodwork announces over the intercom that he's ordered his zombies to kill Team Flash. He boasts that he has all of Flash's knowledge and his objective will be achieved. They go to the accelerator and Bloodwork puts some of his blood in the dispersal chamber. Bloodwork then sends Dark Flash to bring Cisco and Iris. The speedster does so, and Bloodwork says that his black blood is circling the accelerator. When it gathers enough speed, the resulting collision will "cure" the city.
Iris tells Dark Flash that she trusts him and Bloodwork tells Dark Flash to kill her. The speedster wavers and Bloodwork exerts his control on Dark Flash, insisting that they are one. Bloodwork draws Dark Flash forward, saying that it's pointless to fight his will. After a moment Dark Flash recovers... and Iris shoots Bloodwork with an energy gun. Cisco goes to the accelerator controls.
Frost and Allegra head for the pipeline, and Frost blasts her way through the zombies.
Cisco warns that they only have five seconds left until collision. Dark Flash moans in pain, and Allegra arrives. Cisco tells her to hit the particles with all the UV rays he's got when he opens the accelerator door. He does so and Frost assures Allegra that she's got it. Allegra blasts the particle and a wave of UV energy sweeps through the chamber. The UV light spreads out from STAR Labs, sweeping over the zombies and curing them.
In the sewers, the zombies attacking Nash are smashed to the ground by the UV wave. Nash looks at the doorway.
Iris goes to Flash, who opens his eyes and says that it's him. Frost notices that Bloodwork is, and Flash speeds off after him. Outside, Bloodwork grabs a cop and Flash moves the officer out of the way. Flash tells Bloodwork that he won't let him hurt anyone else. Bloodwork insists that he's trying to save everyone and he's the hero, and turns into a giant black blood monster. He smashes Flash away, and Flash comes back, hits him with lightning, and bombards him with superspeed punches. The Bloodwork monster goes down, and Iris figures that they can use MAC to contain Ramsey's black blood.
Bloodwork recovers and attacks Flash, who dodges the creature's strike. The monster pins Flash to a car with blood spikes, and Rachel appears and asks Ramsey what he's done. Ramsey reverts to human form, and Rachel says that she's missed him so much. Flash says that he brought "Rachel" out of Ramsey's mind, and explains that he would give everything to have one more day with his mother and Ramsey has the opportunity. Rachel tells Ramsey that he was born to heal but has become an angel of destruction. Ramsey insists that it isn't real, but Rachel asks him to let her save him from himself. The blood spikes drop, and Flash speeds Ramsey into MAC. Ramsey insists that he can still save the world, and vows to eventually escape and complete his destiny. Iris tells Flash that he beat Ramsey, and Flash says that it's time for their next fight.
Later, ARGUS takes Ramsey into custody. Frost has confirmed that Ramsey's condition is permanent. Iris asks Barry what it was like being Dark Flash, and he says that he couldn’t stop what was happening. He thanks Allegra for saving the city, and Allegra says that he should thank Frost.
Frost is in the medlab talking to Caitlin. Caitlin says that she's proud of how Frost has grown in the last few months, and Frost tells her that she should be with her friends for Crisis.
Later, the team gather in the lounge waiting for the next day and Crisis. Barry tells Joe that he wants to give him his watch so he knows that a part of him is with Joe no matter where he goes. Joe tells him that he's not going anywhere, and Cecile says that Welles once told her that Barry's superpower is hope. She tells Barry that whatever is about to happen, the world is a better place for having him in it. Caitlin admits that Barry saved her life because she had given up hope. Cisco talks about when they first started and how he misses fighting bad guys. Iris says that Cisco vibed her back in time to her and Barry's first kiss. She tells Barry that their love story never ends even with Crisis, and she'll be with him to the very end. Iris says that the only thing more inevitable than Crisis is them. Barry agrees, saying that Crisis can't end what's in their heart.
Midnight starts and a wave of antimatter sweeps toward Central City.
Nash says that he's traveled across the Multiverse to kill the Monitor. Now the Monitor has saved his life, and he Monitor tells him to submit and begin his life anew. The runes glow and Nash touches them in sequence. The panel opens and a burst of light shoots out, bathing Nash in its radiance. He disappears, screaming.
