Anna attends an interview at a well-to-do firm of solicitors to find herself confronted by old flame Miles. While Miles considers her application, his colleague Milly and her partner Egg wonder how to fill the house they have rented, and the fifth member of the group, Warren, is also interviewed for a job.

Anna hopes to rekindle her romance with Miles - but he is less than keen. Milly makes good career progress, but Egg struggles adjust to his job - and with living with Warren.

Egg takes on a medical negligence case and becomes emotionally involved with a client who has cancer. Meanwhile, Warren discovers the truth about Delilah, and Miles chooses a bad person in whom to confide about his love life.

Delilah outstays her welcome. Anna resorts to devious means to get her way. Warren loses his cool over a muesli yoghurt.

Egg takes his work worries to a therapist, but finds that football is the only way forward. Meanwhile, Miles thinks that his days are numbered when Delilah agrees to take an HIV test, and Anna gets an interesting offer when she uses her feminine charms to get work.

Warren fears that Kira might 'out' him to the rest of the family. Anna tries her hand at marriage guidance. And Miles beats his father at his own game.

Anna throws herself into her work, only to find herself up against Miles on a case, while Milly loses her cool. Kira's career suffers a setback. A dinner party is interrupted by Warren's ex-lover Ferdy.

Ferdy's mixed signals are causing problems for Warren. Anna blames Miles for spreading rumours at work. And Milly loses patience when Egg goes on a gambling spree.

Warren begins losing patience with Ferdy, and his efforts to relieve his stress get him into trouble. Miles finds there is no such thing as uncomplicated sex after he resorts to the lonely hearts pages. Egg starts a new job, while Milly finds it difficult being the boss.

Warren's arrest has become common knowledge, and threatens to destroy a promising career. Ferdy is tempted to go back to his ex.

Warren faces the indignity of having to be part of an identity parade and appear in court. When Milly's boss forbids her from representing him, Anna steps in. Egg is left in the lurch with Nicki after a misunderstanding at the cafe. Kira plays hard to get after a night out with Jo. Ferdy's attempts to win round Miles backfire.

Milly agonises over whether or not to accompany O'Donnell on a business trip to Paris. Miles and Egg get an unexpected visit from the police. Jo has to beat a hasty retreat from Kelly.

The vote for Anna's tenancy is imminent, and Miles starts a whispering campaign against her. Kira arranges a date for Ferdy. Milly is brooding about Rachel and O'Donnell in Paris. And Egg has no luck getting on a catering course.

Milly is suspicious of Rachel and O'Donnell's new rapport since the trip to Paris. A visitor to the house arouses Ferdy's interest. Anna's celebration with Sarah does not quite go as planned. Miles still resists his father's invitation.

A decade on, This Life's Egg, Milly, Warren, Anna and Miles meet again at Ferdy's funeral. Egg has become a successful writer, Milly a full-time mum and Anna is still a lawyer, while Warren and Miles have pursued 'business' careers.Egg's latest book is based on the group's lives in the nineties when they shared a house. A TV production company, fronted by documentary film-maker Clare, is at the launch of Egg's book and suggests she films a reunion of the group.The reunion takes place in Miles' Mansion over a long weekend and the five old friends discover each other again.
