Jack Irish - Episode Guide

Jack Irish is a man getting his life back together again. A former criminal lawyer whose world imploded, he now spends his days as a part-time investigator, debt collector, apprentice cabinet maker, punter and sometime lover - the complete man really. Jack is an expert in finding those who don't want to be found - dead or alive. He helps out his mates while avoiding the past. That is until the past finds him.

A phone message from ex-client Danny McKillop doesn't ring any bells for Jack Irish. Life is hard enough without having to dredge up old problems: his beloved football team has moved interstate, the odds on his latest plunge at the track seem far too long and he's still cooking for one. But then Danny turns up dead and Jack has to take a walk back into a dark and dangerous past.

Life's gone pear-shaped for Jack Irish. He's back to takeaway Vietnamese for one after his girlfriend Linda abandoned him for a career in Sydney, a flashy Brisvegas type is muscling in on the racetrack action, and his cabinet-making still leaves a lot to be desired. So when an old teammate of his dad's turns up looking for help, it's a welcome distraction for Jack.

Des Connors' son Gary has gone missing, having nicked off with all Des's money. But sometimes prodigal sons go AWOL for a reason. As Jack begins to dig he discovers Gary was a man with something to hide and a very good reason to disappear – or be disappeared. Finding Gary turns nasty when Jack pushes the wrong buttons at the headquarters of a national transport company owned by one of Australia's wealthiest men. Suddenly there is a disturbing number of faceless people in ill-fitting suits taking an interest in Jack's quest including Dave – an obsessive federal agent and head of a clandestine operation called Black Tide.

Meantime, Ricky Kirsch, a Brisvegas former horse trainer, is moving in on the turf of Harry Strang, Jack's friend and sometime employer. Ricky fixes races and hits on a dead man's wife at the funeral, but when he starts killing jockeys he crosses a line. The body count in Gary's case is rising at an alarming rate. A missing webcaster, two overripe corpses in a long-term carpark and a dead Fed who has turned to consommé in a water tank all point to one thing – Jack is in way over his head. It turns out Gary is a witness who could bring down a business empire and more. The race to find him becomes a lethal sprint. First prize – staying alive.

When a high profile judge, Justice Loder, commissions him to locate a mysterious red book, Jack is thrown into a world of sexy club owners, dodgy drug dealers, bisexual blackmailers, and unhinged killers. Anyone who touches the red book turns up dead. Jack should follow his instinct and back away very slowly and very quietly. If only the judge wasn't family.

When the only witness to a massacre in the Philippines returns to Australia, she is kidnapped just after sending a cryptic text to her friend, Janene. Jack becomes involved when he is employed to find Janene's boyfriend. Meanwhile, Linda's new job in Manila is off to a rough start.

Jack enlists Linda in the hunt for a lead in Manila. Meanwhile, Jack and Sarah grow closer as they search for Tina. As the trail gets warmer, Jack is ambushed and warned that he could be the next victim in this murderous game.

Jack is determined to uncover who framed him for murder. Linda gets a lead to an interview and despite warnings, puts herself in danger.

A tense night in the Filipino jungle results in a chance discovery for Linda and Orton. Jack's concerned for Sarah's well-being as she becomes consumed by manic determination following news about Tina.

While Jack recuperates in the hospital following the bomb blast at Sarah's workshop, Harry decides to move the horse to Jack's courtyard. Linda rushes back to Melbourne to see Jack, but their reunion is less than amiable.

Jack is in the frame for Pastor Rob's murder, despite Barry's efforts to buy him time to solve the case. Worried about how an arrest might affect the horse race, Harry has Jack stay with him. Back in Manila, Linda finally gets her interview, but under hostile circumstances.

In an effort to save his deteriorating relationship with Linda, Jack mails her a package, but three years later, he discovers it never arrived. Eddie, the courier Jack hired, went missing after looking into the death of Lakshmi, an Indian college student studying in Australia.

Jack visits Dr. Rory Finch, a psychiatrist mentioned in Eddie's calendar, while Lakshmi's father arrives in Melbourne to find out what happened to his daughter's remains. Jack's old boss Harry gets back into horse racing, but the track has changed.

After being abducted, Jack returns home to find Charlie's troubled granddaughter, Gus, staying at his house. In need of help proving Meritus College's wrongdoings, Jack reaches out to Linda, who is now living in Manila with Orton.

Already on another assignment in India, Linda agrees to help Jack track down the deported students, but the work is slow going. Harry and Cam bring Jack in on a plan to expose Ricky Kirsch, a troublemaker in the racing world.

Jack tries to avoid Rory after learning her husband's connection to Meritus College. Harry receives more help with his racetrack investigation, while Jack gets closer to finding the mysterious "K."

Jack discovers K's underground bunker and the testimony she hid there, but he is detained before he can utilize the evidence. Harry's plan to expose Ricky hits a snag, and Linda returns to Australia with Orton.

After the execution-style death of an off-duty cop, Barry Tregear calls in a favour with Jack, leading him on the path to uncovering a buried truth about his murdered wife, Isabel.

As the body count rises, Jack seeks help from Linda, the pair of them working together to dig deeper into what Barry knew about Isabel's death.

The countdown to payday begins as Jack hunts down Barry's killer, but as the truth begins to come out, Jack's world is turned upside down.

As the Great White pay day approaches, more people come into the line of fire and Jack must lay to rest the ghosts of the past or risk losing everything all over again.
