Jake is a freelance consultant that came from a hectic military background. His parents, especially his father, was very demanding of him. His father was eventually killed in action, and has post traumatic stress disorder from it. He frequently wakes up from a nightmare after dozing off where Helen has to calm him down and tell him when and where he is all the time. Jake on occasion is a romantic which Helen fell in love with. He seems to be completely distant from his daughters as he is busy fussing about something or other. He along with the other guys, participates in youthful activities.
