Manaaki Kokiri

Manaaki, played by Alexander Tarrant, is a handsome, proud and rather dapper young Maori man, a disciple of a charismatic pacifist Prophet. A spiritual person, Manaaki believes strongly in the power of prayer and that it is a sin to take a human life. His faith doesn't suppress his keen sense of humour and he is by nature optimistic.

He is also a bit of a flirt and has a winning smile. He loves his sister deeply and wants her to leave the city, which he finds frightening and full of sin.

Here's what Alexander makes of Manaaki:
"Manaaki is a man trying to follow a path of righteousness. He tries to bring his sister out of the city and back to their Prophet's village. Along the way he un-expectantly falls into sin and to get away from it he goes into the War, which is totally against what he is about. He has the appearance of being a man of peace but when he goes into the war he realizes he's very good at killing people. It was very unexpected for him to be so good at what he believes to be the wrong path."
