John William Weichselbraun

John William Weichselbraun is a world-famous oboist who plays first chair in the New York Symphony Orchestra. Capt. Raymond Holt is a fan of his, a so-called Weichselbrauniac. At a concert at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, where Weichselbraun performed Oboe Sonata in g-minor, Raymond, who was sitting front-row, had to be escorted out for gasping too loud.

In S3E16, Weichselbraun faked a robbery in which his oboe would have been stolen. Det. Charles Boyle later discovered that, in fact, Weichselbraun was trying to sell the oboe, gaining both money from insurance and from the buyer. Weichselbraun was later arrested for insurance fraud.
