Richard Widmark

Born in Sunrise, Minnesota Richard Widmark studied and then taught dramatic arts at Lake Forest College in Illinois. He moved to New York to become an actor and by 1938 he was appearing on the radio in Aunt Jenny's Real Life Stories, and made his Broadway debut in the 1943 play Kiss and Tell. He made a sensational film debut as villain Tommy Udo in Kiss of Death, and went on to portray a broad range of character in a career that spanned six decades. He made his final screen appearance in the 1991 film True Colors.

Richard Widmark died at his home after a long illness, age 93
