Susan Harris, producer, creator and writer for "Soap," began her brilliant career when, in her own words, "I was sitting watching a lot of television programs one night and thought, 'I can do that.'"
And that is precisely what Ms. Harris did. Instead of watching television one evening, she sat down and started writing her first television script in longhand. Within a short time Susan had her first paycheck.
Ms. Harris not only created "Soap" but "Loves Me, Loves Me Not" and "Fay." She also has written for "Maude" and "All in the Family."
She enjoys writing comedy because, she says, "Really good comedy can be very, very serious. It contains elements of tragedy. I look at the world with a sense of humor, and this is how I write."
Born in New York City, Susan attended Cornell University and New York University. She and her son, Sam, live in Sherman Oaks, California a suburb of Los Angeles. When she has the time, Susan enjoys playing tennis, jogging and reading,
