Born in Queens, New York, raised in New Jersey, Michael Landon earned a scholarship to USC with his athletic skills, however an injury ended his athletic career. He changed his focus to acting, changed his name, and went on to become easily recognized by fans for his roles in Bonanza, Little House on the Prairie and Highway to Heaven.
Michael Landon died at age 54 following a brief battle with an aggressive form of pancreatic cancer.
