Attica Locke

Attica Locke is an American fiction author and writer/producer for television and film. She was born in 1974 in Houston, Texas, and she currently lives in Los Angeles, California.

Her first novel Black Water Rising (2009) was nominated for an Edgar Award, an NAACP Image Award, as well as a Los Angeles Times Book Prize, and was short-listed for the Women's Prize for Fiction. Her second novel The Cutting Season (2012) was the winner of the Ernest J. Gaines Award for Literary Excellence. Her third novel Pleasantville (2015) was the winner of the Harper Lee Prize for Legal Fiction, and was also long-listed for the Bailey's Prize for Women's Fiction. Her fourth novel Bluebird, Bluebird (2017) won the Edgar Allan Poe Award for Best Novel of the Year, the Anthony Award for Best Novel, the CWA Ian Fleming Steel Dagger Award, and was a Los Angeles Times Book Award finalist. Her fifth and latest novel Heaven, My Home (2019) is the sequel to Bluebird, Bluebird, won the Staunch Book Prize, and was mentioned in The New York Times article "The Best Crime Novels of the Year".
