Game of Thrones has returned and Daredevil is fantastic! *Spoilers*

26052.jpgDaredevil is back and it is truly better then ever. Or better then it was. For those of you who don't know. Daredevil was also a film featuring Ben Affleck as the blind defender who dance flirts with Jennifer Garner as Electra across a playground and under and over see-saws. And Colin Farrel navigates a motorcycle while standing on the back of it and just looking like an utter idiot as Bulleseye. Honestly, I think this show is fantastic, but I think it also benefits from how awful the movie was. I mean the guy slept in a water chamber? Why? Because he couldn't deal with sound while he slept? So he was powerless to his own ability? It made no sense. Absolutely awful.

The Netflix series stars Boardwalk Empire Irish assassin Charlie Cox as Matthew Murdock AKA Daredevil. It isn't an origin story and he doesn't have a suit, in the beginning. The show is also action packed and incredibly gory and shown quite viscerally when a bone pops out of someone's arm. It's fantastic. The show also gets a few things wrong but don't worry, I'll break it all down for you.

What the show gets right:

Daredevil only has heightened senses. He doesn't have money or any super power that allows him to break through walls. All he has are his fists and he uses them. A lot. He also gets his ass handed to him. A lot. Which is fantastic because he is, after all, human. He takes punches, he gets black eyes, he has to get stitches and a tube put in his chest to help him breath. By God, is this a superhero? Yes he is and that's what I like about this recent release of darker superhero-type media. Batman bled and had to have Alfred stitch him up. My personal favorite, and the reason I saw superhero-type is because, I believe, that the new Daniel Craig Bond series is also incredibly darker and realistic. He gets into a car accident and is in a wheelchair! How much more realer can you get? Murdock takes his hits and he does fight back but he also gets hurt in the process.

The fact that this isn't an origin story also plays into his favor. He's already a masked crusader and through a series of flashbacks you see his training but it isn't the focus. He has a villain and he knows what he wants to do. The audience doesn't need to see how he came to be in it's entirety.

Which brings me to my next point. Whoever decided to give Vincent D'Onofrio a shot as Wilson Fisk, AKA Kingpin, just doubled down and took the pot. He is fantastic and his back story, although short, paints a detailed picture of who he is and why. He also is a perfect representation of how, in reality, no one is all good or all bad. From his perspective he truly believes in what he is doing and you can see how that began.

The one major problem I have with this show:

Is that they rushed his relationship with Rosario Dawson's character Claire and this is a HUGE pet peeve of mine when it comes to comic book/superhero movies. A film set in reality, for some reason, forgets to look at how long the two characters who eventually end up together have actually spent any time together in the same room. I mean come on. They just renewed Daredevil for another season, so why not wait until season 2 or 3 before doing this. Can't they get to know each other first before they just wind up in bed together? It bothers me to no end because it is incredibly immature. A woman just can't take her eyes off of the man who can break people's faces with his hands. Why don't we add some depth to the female character and maybe make her question, I don't know, if the individual who is incredibly aggressive is actually stable enough to be in a relationship with?

But that's my opinion. Check out the show and let me know what you think.

Also GAME OF THRONES is back! And I am truly excited for it's return because it is gong to start delving into unknown and unwritten territory. Now I too will be surprised as to who meets with who and who dies and who lives. Because, I have no idea what's going to happen now that Beneioff and Weiss, the show's creators, are moving beyond the book series.

This is a show that I tune in for every Sunday and it is the only show, currently, that I do that for. Everything else I watch in my own free time but GOT is a show that I tune into every Sunday. Let me tell you what I am excited for after being only two episodes deep.

Dorn! I love Dorn. I like their progressive society, I like how much they hate the Lannisters and I love how different they are from Westeros. Their society acnkowledges bastards, allows females to rule, and doesn't let the disabilities of individuals determine their fate. I want more Dorn and less Cersei.

I am also quite excited for Arya and her training as an assassin. There was very little of this in the book and I am hoping that we get to experience a bit more of it.

I also want Tyrion and Daenarys to meet. Because by God she needs it.

Which brings me to my next point of what I don't like about the show.

Dany in Mereen. She needs to leave there. Now that the creators have the ability to move past the books, they should MOVE PAST THE BOOKS. It dragged on way too long in the books and it is very much dragging in the show. We get it. An occupation is difficult but come on already just hop on the dragons and start tearing up Westeros

There also needs to be less Sansa and more Littlefinger because he's the only one I really care about in that relationship and the only one that is remotely of interest.

What do you like from the show so far? Anything you wish they showed more or less of?

Daredevil is amazing. I hope Netflix is not like other companies canceling shows, like the case of Constantine.
