Mr. Robot Finale Postponed for a Week, so in the Meantime Watch The Knick!

Due to the unfortunate shooting that occurred this past week, the season finale for Mr. Robot has been postponed until 9/2/15. Once it premieres, I will try my best to write about it as quickly as possible.

But in the mean time, I wanted to recommend a show that's available on HBO GO and HBO On Demand until October. This show being the Knick. It is utterly fantastic and directed by Steven Sodenbergh and you can see how fantastic his direction is in each and every episode.

The Knick tells the story of the Knickerbocker Hospital that existed in New York City between 1913 and 1979, as it's name changed from the J. Hood Wright Memorial Hospital to the Knickerbocker Hospital. The show follows Dr. John Thackery (Clive Owen) as he attempts to save the lives of his many surgical patients that come through his theater. Relying on the assistance of nurse Lucy Elkins (Eve Hewson) Dr. Everrett Gallinger (Eric Johnson) and Dr. Bertie Chickering (Michael Angarano) Dr. Thackery attempts to discover and implement various surgical procedures that he believes could save lives. Dr. Edwards, Andre Holland, is also introduced to the hospital within the first season and is not taken seriously throughout the medical world due to the color of this skin. Mr. Barrow (Jeremy Bobb) also attempts to run the hospital while skimming a little bit of money off the top for himself and Ms. Robertson (Juliet Rylance) attempts to push her own agenda within the hospital to ensure that the non profit beliefs it was founded on are not forgotten. Finally, my favorite character, Tom Cleary (Chris Sullivan) attempts to supply the hospital with bodies as the ambulance driver.

This show is not your typical hospital drama, it's a period pierce if anything and also incredibly experimental and grotesque. The first episode should not be watched while you are eating dinner. I repeat do not watch this episode while eating because you will lose your appetite. The camera doesn't shy away from wounds to the genitals or arms as it attempts to show you what real trauma looks like. It's also non-episodic in that every episode doesn't contain a new procedure, rather plot and character are developed throughout.

The best part, in my opinion, about this show is the cinematography. There is a certain fight scene that is shot in an incredible way and it just made me fall in love with this show. The camera also tends to follow individuals around as discussion is being overheard so as to by atypical to that of other medical dramas. If you want to watch a shot with good camera work then look no further.

Furthermore, the characters, especially the transition that happens with Tom Cleary, are well-written and appear to exist in reality. So if you've seen The Knick what are your thoughts? And if you haven't watch it and let me know!

The cinematography of this series was very good indeed, although it wasn't my style of series.
