Genuine and funny, Sydney has come back to Sullivan's Crossing after having spent years in New York trying to be a successful model. She helps her brother Rob at his Diner & Bar in Timberlake and helps care for his son Finn after the death of his wife. Syd was Maggie's childhood best friend until Maggie left. She is still hurt that Maggie never stayed in touch. Syd lived a glamourous life as a model in New York, but after a bad breakup and learning of her sister-in-law's death, she moved back to help Rob care for his young son. Though Syd looks up to Maggie, she can't help but feel like a failure compared to all that Maggie has accomplished. Commitment phobic and with a bad track record with relationships, Sydney has put her own life on hold to focus on her nephew and brother. Though she's been seeing Rafe, a local volunteer on the search and rescue team, she has been rejecting his requests to take their casual no-strings-attached relationship to a more serious level. When it becomes apparent to her that Finn is getting too close, she must make a difficult decision.
