Ellen Harper Jackson

Ellen is one of Thelma's daughters. She is supposed to be the first child also, drastically older than any other of Thelma's children. It is very possible that Thelma had Ellen as early as 15 or even 14 years old and does not want to admit it. Ellen dreamed big her entire life, yet did not actually do much work. She married and divorced numerous very wealthy men, and has a few investments. She drives a "nice safe Seville, which practically drives itself" that she offered to teach Thelma how to drive also. Thelma and Ellen fight many times due to them being practically the same age. However, it is no where near as bad as the fighting with Eunice. Ellen was also selected to go with them to participate in Family Feud. After Ellen's divorce, she decided to date The Mayor Alvin Tutweiler and join his campaign for reelection. Ellen has at least two daughters. In her final episode, the hospital appointment was for a Fanny Tuck, since she aged, it began sagging. There is no other information about her medical history. When Rue McClanahan starred in The Golden Girls, she ended her contract permanently, thus they wrote her out permanently. She was given a character credit with her opening picture while Betty White's credit displayed "Guest Star Betty White". They were going to initially keep Betty White, this time with a character credit added, as it happened in the Best Medicine episode.
