Yvonne Suhor portrays the strong-willed Lou (Louise) McCloud, who masquerades as a boy so that she may ride with the Pony Express. The gutsy Lou is an expert horseperson and can hold her own. Having promised to keep her "secret" safe, the other Pony Express riders treat her as their equal, except for The Kid, who is smitten with her.
