The front man for a lottery syndicate in Louisiana, the syndicate sold only 40% of the lottery tickets, held the rest for the big prizes, and kept them for themselves. When the state government caught on, Quade hired Priscilla Cole to pretend to be a "big winner" and paid her $500 to hold the $100,000 winnings. Quade then had her killed to silence her.
Yancy Derringer caught on to the scheme and locked up Quade, then put together a fake lynch mob to pressure the killer--Dink Saxon--into confessing. The government was unable to press murder charges against Quade, but put him away for grand theft.
