Joyce Grey-Carter was born in London (UK) and is of Jamaican parentage. She is a 3 time award winning Actor. Joyce has appeared in a number of short films as well as a feature film called Preaching to the Perverted. She also co-stars in Episode 1 of the new Foundation series which premiered on Apple TV + on the Friday 24th September 2021, where she plays the role of the Synnaxian Stone Remover. Joyce filmed her role at Troy Studios in Co. Limerick in Ireland in November 2019.
Joyce is also a professional Voiceover Artist and has provided her voice to a number of Client projects and short films. Joyce has also featured in commercials, one of which was directed by Yorgus Lanthimos (The director of the award winning The Favourite).
Joyce trained at Mountview Theatre School (the Judi Dench Mountview Academy of Theatre) in the early 80s and later trained at Middlesex Polytechnic, Trent Park in Cockfosters where she studied a BA Hons in Performance Arts. Joyce also trained as a Drama Teacher at Goldsmith College, London University in the early 90s. She has taught in Secondary Mainstream Schools as well as Special Schools in London for 28 years before returning to an Acting and Voiceover career in 2018.
Joyce is also an aspiring Screenplay Writer and Director. She wrote her first screen play in July 2020 at the height of the Corona Virus Pandemic, filmed by her husband Clive Grey-Carter. Joyce also casted and directed the film and plays the lead female protagonist. The film is called Shielding Sheila and is currently in post production. Joyce aims to submit the film to the various Film Freeway Film Festivals once it has completed its post production.
