Episode 3

Maxine is informed that Ian has been charged with the abduction and murder of the girls, while she is remanded in custody for conspiring to pervert the course of justice. Maxine feels the wrath of public fury. She reveals to Ian's mother that Ian told her that the girls came inside the house. Eventually, Maxine turns on Ian after hearing about previous assault allegations against him. The trial ensues as the prosecution tries to unravel the truth.

Maxine Carr was sentenced to 3 years and 6 months in prison. She served half her sentence and was released in May 2004. Huntley later claimed Maxine lied about her knowledge of the crimes. Something she denied. Ian Huntley was sentenced to two terms of life imprisonment with a minimum term of 40 years. Upon her release from prison, Maxine was given a new identity after the High Court granted a Lifetime Anonymity Order.
