Sharon's boss, Mrs Harris, has come to the leisure centre to make sure that things are running smoothly. She thinks she can run it better herself and so fires a distraught Sharon. However, it is not as easy as it looks, and Danny and Mick make sure Mrs Harris' boss, Dame Frost, fires her and brings Sharon back to get things back under control.

Upon exiting the Pottsfield Leisure Centre after getting fired, Mrs. Harris got hit by an ice-cream van twice (it reversed to hit her the second time), then bit by a rabid dog, was splashed with a cup of piddle thrown by a homeless person, got hit by another ice-cream van, received two text messages on her phone about being bankrupt and her husband divorcing her, got mildly electrocuted, was evicted from her house/apartment, had all her belongings repossessed, and finally was hit by a third ice-cream van.
That's my personal headcanon.
SPOILER: Watching Series 5 makes you realise just how extra pointless everything in this episode was in the long run.
