While using Tek for leisure, Inspector Winterguild is attacked by a powerful virus impossible to be treated. Jake Cardigan receives a demand letter saying that Bennett Sands wants to adopt Danny. While discussing with Kate by phone, she is also attacked by the same virus. Walter H. Bascom and his assistant Centra find that Sonny Hokori, who is imprisoned, is somehow involved in the development of the virus in the global computer network. Jake and Sid Gomez further investigation show that Sonny's sister Tora Hokori, who died in a boat attack to kill Sonny, and now is living in the network. Further, the programmer Gordon Chesterton has developed the powerful virus for her that may compromise the worldwide network.
