Veronica Tennant was born in London, England, on January 15, 1946. Tennant began dancing at the age of four. In 1955, she immigrated to Toronto, Canada with her family. She was the Prima Ballerina with The National Ballet of Canada for 25 years. In 2004, she was elevated to the rank of Companion of the Order of Canada.
